Our Story
The Foundry BJJ was originally started in 2001 in Farmington, ME - a hotbed for early Jiu Jitsu talent. After proudly serving the Farmington community for 9 years, The Foundry opened its second location in Gaithersburg, Maryland in the summer of 2010. The Gaithersburg location quickly attracted some of the top BJJ talent in the world and today proudly serves as home base for several top 10 world-ranked athletes and champions as well as extremely talented hobbyists.
Our Philosophy
What sets the instruction at The Foundry apart from other Jiu Jitsu gyms is our continued focus on technical prowess over strength - a mentality passed down through our highly regarded lineage that goes all the way back to the Mitsuyo Maeda, who originally taught Jiu Jitsu to the renowned Gracie family.
